About the University	The Universität Leipzig was founded in 1409 making it one of the oldest universities in Germany. It is an interdisciplinary, international comprehensive university. The University consists of 14 faculties with 128 institutes. 35,000 persons research, teach and study at the university and more than 4,300 persons are employed at the University Hospital of Leipzig. The university offered 136 courses of study in the 2009/10 winter semester. 5,686 doctoral candidates are registered at the UL (2,439 in medicines), 631 of whom are enrolled in 20 structured graduate training programmes (as per the end of 2009). The research potential in Leipzig is fortified by 20 non-university research institutions and five other universities.

Extra requirements	You would need to provide a proof of your German proficiency: an equivalent to a CEFR level B2 at the moment of application and C1 at the moment of departure. Please note that there is a limited range of courses taught in English. You will not be able to obtain 30 ECTS only from the English taught courses.
Important information	In Germany there is no possibility to obtain only a Bachelor degree in law. The Law studies in Germany last 5 years and finish with passing a so called "First State Exam", an equivalent to a Master degree. Therefore, the courses available to the exchange students are an equivalent of both Bachelor and Master level.

Financial support / Grants	More information on study and placement grants for law students can be found at the website www.rug.nl/law/lep. An Erasmus+ grant covers part of the travel and accommodation expenses involved in studying abroad. At the moment the Erasmus+ grant has been set at € 330 - € 390 per calendar month, depending on the country of your host university. This may change per academic year. Your application for an exchange period at one of the Faculty's partner universities also counts as your application for a grant. When you receive notification of a place for study abroad, you will also learn more about the Erasmus grant.
